I would not consider this a slow speed engine, the last one I was in charge of ran at 68RPM max, 30000 SHP.

The Atlas Imperial in my boat idles at 80 rpm and is full out at 325 rpm directly coupled to the screw. Any more these days any oil fired engine turning under 1000rpm is considered slow!!
All the old thermodynamics and engine books I have call 1-100 rpm slow, 100-500 medium, and 500-1000 rpm high speed engines. Of course they were written in the teens and twenties.

A moving target, gentlemen. FM opposed, Alco 2xx's and EMD 567 - 710's are considered medium speed nowadays.
