Engine wanted-UK

Post by ianrichards » Sat Jan 28, 2017 5:22 pm

Good day folks.
I'm just in the early days of putting together my next project.
I've decided upon the boat to build, a 15ft, 6ft beam open launch.
I've probably sourced a boiler which has the capacity to cope with any suitable engine I fit.
All I need to do is decide upon and locate a suitable engine.
At this stage I'm open to suggestions, however it will need to be a ready built model as I'll have enough on my plate building the boat and finishing the boiler.
I won't be able to firm anything up in a hurry as I'm in Nepal until early April and will have limited access to the internet.
Not the best of plans, but there you go !
Regards
Ian

Ian, I've now tested that hybrid 5A on steam and it runs like a dream (both ways). Incidentally I didn't mention that it came from Cyril Taylor's estate.

Thanks for that update.
Can you PM if you wish to sell it with details of what you're asking and where it is located.
Best wishes from a sunny Nepal !

I haven't got the boiler yet, but I'm in contact with the seller of the part built Two drum water tube steam boiler on the SBA small ads.
If we can put a deal together I'd be happy with that one.
If you are thinking of selling your 5a I could well be interested.
Internet is slow and irregular here, so limited access.

Ian

Ah good, that two drum on the SBA site is called a WTB1. I have one . ST5 turn up on ebay every so often. The SBA AGM normally has at least one engine for sale. sometimes at rock bottom prices. But look at other types of engines as well , such at the Taylor .
