Does anyone know what this vessel actually is? I've not seen or heard of it before.

I haven't either, I've tried to find her elsewhere with no luck so far. Doesn't state her name making it difficult to research.

I can not remember the name of the small passenger steamer at this time. It has been used for years as a floating hotel on the west side of Vancouver Island. She is 100% complete in the engine room. They used to give tour through the engine room. At this time can only imagine that her hull plates are getting thin.

Thank you Robert. Looks like she was a research vessel of some sort at one time.

Know of any discoverable photos of her engine room? Do you remember what type of boiler she has?

For those still drooling, what do you make of a) the landscape in the pictures (forested fjords with snow on the mountains) and b) the architecture (Clearly wooden but not short of cash) plus c) the small boat architecture (Those wheelhouses!)

My guess would be N America, probably NW. My second guess would be Sweden as there are lots of old classic hulls there all still in use though not necessarily retaining their steam plant.

So is this the puzzle for Xmas?

Merry Christmas All

Pete

Ex Canadian hydrographic survey ship William J Stewart. Looks like it was towed away in October to be scrapped. Damn.

She is one of the ships Cliff Blackstaff served on.

I REALLY hope she hasn't been scrapped and the scrappers had an inkling that she is worth saving
