It was not easy to convince Allnutt. All his shop training had given him a profound prejudice against inexact work, experimental work, hit-or-miss work.

There are a couple of folks I've seen at meets that have those types of tops that retract. They have a large hole where the boiler goes through and removable stanchions. The canopy let's down over the cockpit which is then covered for trailering. One has a gin pole sort of device (Just a small square tube with a pulley on top and a cleat to tie off) for lifting the top and holding it while he puts in the stanchions.
